(SAN FRANCISCO, CA.) – Shuttle drivers at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) began the New Year with membership approval of a new 3-year collective bargaining agreement that includes improvements in hourly wages, retirement plan, and maintaining union health benefits.

“The drivers have provided service for decades at SFO, maintaining the routes that pick up and deliver the thousands of workers and passengers around-the-clock at one of the busiest airports in the United States. These men and women deserve the respect and security that this new contract will provide”, stated Local 665 Principal Officer Tony Delorio.

After a quick yet aggressive round of negotiations, the new contract was reviewed and unanimously approved by the shuttle drivers during the last week of 2022. The new agreement includes the highest-ever hourly wage increases and contribution increases to the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust. An extra sick day and holiday as well as vacation improvements are also included in the new contract.

Local 665 business representative Joe Matekel noted the unity of the drivers throughout the negotiations.

“These Teamsters at SFO knew that sticking together was their strength, and they demonstrated that from the first proposal meeting, during negotiations, and right through the ratification vote,” Matekel said.

Added Teamster Shop Steward Severino Angeles: “Management knew we were serious, and we got this deal done very quickly, with the largest increases that we have seen to date. The members realized it was a good contract, demonstrated by the 100% vote to approve.

In the end, this shows the strength of our great union and that Solidarity Works”.
