(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) – Teamsters Local 665, which represents over 1000 Teamsters in the parking industry in San Francisco, California, announced an administrative judgement against a non-union parking operation conducting business on locations owned by the City’s Port.
“Our members working at municipal locations are protected by prevailing wage law that Local 665 sets. After discovering the possibility of wage violations, we contacted the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement (OLSE) to investigate,” Principal Officer Tony Delorio said.
The OLSE investigation uncovered clear wage infractions which found payroll records well below the scale set by the San Francisco Prevailing Wage Ordinance.
The final report on non-union Hyde Parking showed that the company’s six locations on Port property had shorted workers $640,000.
“Prevailing wage law is in place to protect parking workers from exploitation and wage theft,” said Delorio. “Teamsters appreciate the partnership we have with the OLSE in fighting these scams which hurt workers and their families.”
Delorio followed up this report by disclosing that a Union parking company, SP Plus, has agreed to assist with the large fine levied by the City of San Francisco and will take over operation of the Port locations in the immediate future.
