Peggy Aleman joined the Teamsters Union in 1987.

Employed as a school bus driver for First Student in Sonoma County, California, Peggy served children with special needs in the Santa Rosa school district. During two-plus decades of employment in the bargaining unit at First Student, Peggy remained a union member while serving as both dispatcher and Local 665 shop steward.

Following a union merger, Peggy was elected as a trustee on the Executive Board of the Local 665, and in 2014 she became the first Member Services

Representative for the Local. This position allowed Peggy to offer her knowledge and skills to the wider membership, assisting with issues that included questions regarding unemployment and disability insurance, benefits enrollment questions as well as membership orientation and the contractual grievance process.

During the current COVID pandemic, Peggy has been the essential worker providing guidance to members affected financially, and for those with concerns regarding health and safety.

Peggy is often the first person a new member will meet upon arrival at the Santa Rosa, California Union Hall.

Sister Peggy Aleman is liked and admired by members both old and new, taking on the role as a “pair of shoulders” to lean on during difficult times. Peggy genuinely cares about each and every member at Local 665, is a strong believer in union principles, and is one of the biggest cheerleaders at events and rallies.

The mother of five children, a grandmother to seven more, with a great-grandchild on the way, Local 665 is grateful to Peggy’s large and extended family for sharing with us her love and wisdom which she extends to the entire membership throughout each and every year.

During Women’s History Month, Teamsters Local 665 honors our Sister,

Peggy Aleman and all of our sisters in the many crafts and worksites that we represent.
