London Breed grew up in San Francisco’s Western Addition during the time when that community’s residents were alternately ignored, or told to move out.
Through those struggles London relied on the support of family and neighbors, including her uncle, Teamster Chuck Davis.
These early experiences forged a personal insight which, as London said during her mayoral inauguration, “service to others” is the most important aspect of a vocation.
As Mayor, London Breed has been there for Teamsters, whom she considers family, and for all working women and men across the spectrum of employment. When Teamster members need her, she has been with us.
She listens, asks questions and remains accessible while simultaneously overseeing the needs of
a large, diverse city.
With the advent of autonomous and artificial intelligence that challenge the livelihood of workers, Mayor Breed insists on incorporating labor’s concerns before advancement of technological innovation proceeds.
