After more than two months of nonstop picketing, community outreach, and unwavering determination, Teamsters Local 665 is proud to announce a major victory: the 1910 Union Street Garage will once again be operated by a unionized parking company starting February 1st.
The fight began when the garage abruptly brought in a nonunion operator, threatening hard-won standards and the stability of the workers who keep this facility running. Local 665 members immediately took action — launching a sustained strike and holding the line day after day to protect good union jobs in our city.
Support poured in from across the community. Local residents, labor allies, neighborhood associations, and small businesses all stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our members, reinforcing that San Francisco stands with workers and that 1910 Union Street must remain a UNION garage.
Thanks to that combined pressure and collective strength, the garage has committed to bringing back a union operator and reinstating union standards for the workers who serve the public every day.
“This victory shows exactly what happens when workers refuse to back down,” said Tony Delorio, Principal Officer of Teamsters Local 665. “Our members stood in the rain, in the cold, and in the face of disrespect — and they won.”
