Contract maintains best wages, benefits and working conditions in the country
(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) – September 30, 2026 – Nearly 1000 Local 665 members working at more than 300 off-street parking locations throughout San Francisco have approved a new four-year collective bargaining agreement by a 98% margin, featuring improvements in every economic category.
“This contract firmly addresses affordability issues affecting working people in the Bay Area,” stated Local 665 Principal Officer Tony Delorio following the vote. “The solidarity of this membership was clear to the 13 employers. The result is a city master parking agreement that remains the best in the United States.”
Entering negotiations well ahead of the current contract’s expiration provided union negotiators with ample time to prepare a strike vote if one became necessary. During talks, it quickly became clear that major parking operators had no appetite for a work stoppage. Alongside a united Teamster membership, the ongoing rebound of the San Francisco business sector played a crucial role in the outcome.
“Parking companies felt pressure from our membership, and that pressure came from civic leaders too,” said Arthur Hilmoe, a 25-year Local 665 member. “They were in no mood for San Francisco’s recovery to be derailed by a work stoppage. They want parking workers to be treated fairly. Local 665’s leadership ensured we were respected.”
Wages under the new agreement will increase 4% each year. Health benefits will be maintained with a guaranteed 9% annual increase paid by the employers.
“Unlike other plans out there, our members won’t have out-of-pocket monthly premium costs, and their plan is secure,” Delorio said.
Security is provided for the two retirement plans as well. A total 24% contribution increase will be added to the Western Conference of Teamsters plan, along with a total 55% contribution increase into the 401(k) plan.
One additional paid holiday and one additional sick leave day are included in the ratified package, along with an enhancement of worker contractual protection language.
