STATEMENT TO LOCAL 665 MEMBERS CONCERNING THE HOTEL STRIKE IN SAN FRANCISCO

As you receive this message UNITE HERE Local 2 members will be walking the picket line at a number of Class A hotels in San Francisco.

This strike is sanctioned by Teamsters Joint Council 7, the San Francisco Labor Council and, in accordance with your Collective Bargaining Agreement, by the Executive Board of Local 665.

UNITE HERE Local 2 members walking this picket line come from a wide range of classifications, and if you are employed at one of the affected hotels, you work along side these women and men.

Teamsters Local 856 members employed in the affected hotels will be honoring this strike.

We have been informed that union members from a variety of trades and crafts, including painters, electricians and lighting and sound engineers, either employed directly by the affected hotels, or employed by third-party vendors, will be honoring this strike. Teamsters from our sister locals, who normally make deliveries to the affected hotels or pick up the affected hotels recycling and solid waste, will not do so during this sectioned strike.

Teamsters Local 665 members employed at the affected hotels are required to honor this sanctioned picket line as a condition of membership.

Local 665 business agent Tony Delorio, along with business agents Michael Thompson and Florencio Sinogui will be monitoring your work site to answer your questions as well as monitoring violations of this sanctioned strike.

After you have left your worksite DO NOT cross this picket line while the sanction remains in place.

Take direction from Local 665 business agents. They will be happy to answer your questions and provide assistance as it becomes available. The Local 665 Executive Board and the IBT will be providing economic assistance. Your business agents will have more information about this assistance in the coming days.

Your union web site will be a great resource for updated information. Information will be posted on the web site after the strike begins.      www.teamsters665.org

Your web site has a chat service, for any questions you may have.
