Automotive Technicians, Service Specialists and Retail Salespersons working at the Firestone Center in Santa Rosa have overwhelmingly voted to join Teamsters Local 665.

“These workers contacted our Local with questions about organizing. The workplace economic conditions in the automotive service sector are sub-par. We explained that unity is the key to improvements and having their voice heard.” Said Local 665 Principal Officer Tony Delorio.

Preparing for a vote had the usual difficulties of place and time, with the company taking the route of delay and stall. In the end the workers stuck together and voted Yes for Teamster representation.

Local 665 Recording Secretary Juan Gallo led the way, keeping workers informed and on track. “We were clear that if they stuck together, they would control the outcome. The Yes vote proves that solidarity amongst workers overrides employer propaganda,” Gallo said after the vote.

The fight continues as Local 665 and these new members prepare for contract negotiations.

Solidarity will be the key to winning that battle as well.
