(SANTA ROSA, Calif.) – Custodian supervisors employed at the Santa Rosa School District have unanimously ratified a first contract.
“We secured significant improvements in job projections, the ability to bid school sites, and binding arbitration in the event of a dispute,” said shop steward Michael Stanford. “Getting three new holidays was an unanticipated extra!”
The August 7 vote followed a self-organizing effort by the workers, after they discovered that their classification was eligible for union membership.
“Historically these members were classified between management and custodial workers. When they realized they could be union members, they chose the Teamsters after interviewing other trade unions,” said Local 665 Business Representative Tom Woods.
The new contract covers 20 new Teamsters under a one-year deal.
During negotiations the bargaining unit team determined that it was advantageous to pursue economic improvements during talks that begin mid-year 2026.
To the new members who chose Teamsters Local 665, welcome aboard!
