(June 12, 2026) – A new four-year collective bargaining agreement was ratified unanimously by Teamsters Local 665 members employed at Smartcarte at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The membership of 30 drivers, service associates and ambassadors at Smartcarte will receive a total of 17% in wage increases over the life of the new agreement.

Teamsters business agent Joe Matekel led the negotiations and discussed conditions for airport workers and the need for fair wages.

“SFO’s International Terminal is near the top for boardings in the United States. Domestic is not far behind. Teamsters at Smartcarte need to be at the top of their game to provide for the millions of passengers passing through the airport annually. In turn these workers need to be compensated fairly. This new agreement brings that economic justice home”, Matekel said.

Along with wage increases the new contract at Smartcarte adds an additional paid sick day and one more holiday to the yearly calendar.

The win to adjust the vacation scale will bring access for expanded paid time off.

Health plan benefits will continue without cost increase though the terms of the ratified agreement.

“The members are very satisfied with the new contract. The wages and benefits are fair which explains why all the members voted to approve the contract”, Smartcarte shop steward Hai Nquyen said following the vote.
