(SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF.) 22 workers at Vivalon Rides, San Francisco, overwhelmingly voted to unionize and join Teamsters Local 665. The vote comes after weeks of preparation and planning with workers in the unit.
“This is a big win and a step in the right direction for me and my colleagues,” said Charlene Monroe, Vivalon Driver, in the newly organized unit. “We know our unity is our strength and with support of the Teamsters combined with Local 665’s track record of winning strong contracts at the bargaining table, we are confident that we will finally get the respect we deserve for our work to deliver a vital service for San Franciscans in need.”
Vivalon Rides provides transportation services for social service agencies, medical centers, government agencies and residents across San Francisco. Workers in the unit are Drivers and Attendants who provide on-demand transportation services for older adults and people with disabilities across the city.
Teamsters Local 665 Principal Officer, Tony Delorio said, “We want to welcome every Vivalon worker in the unit to the Teamsters. From our initial conversation with workers in the unit about organizing, we knew they were ready to put in the work to organize and win a strong contract. Thank you to Local 665 Business Agent, Joe Matekel, for his leadership and work to bring the vision of the workers to unionize across the finish line. We are gearing up for a fight at the bargaining table that will deliver strong benefits and wages that the workers deserve.”
